A home gym equipment is a great alternative to a gym membership. They are great to have at home as it is easy, comfortable and best of all, it is convenient. One way to acquire a bodybuilding home gym equipment is to look for it on the second hand or factory refurbished market. Be cautious though as some sellers of school gym equipment is guilty of fraud. Also, the cheap gym equipment is often poor in quality and very unstable. As it usually is a major purchase it should be given careful thought.

Having this kind of equipment is about getting fit, so try and stay injury free. This type of equipment, like the Bowflex is designed to help you build muscle and shape. This equipment is a good buy for home training because it is so versatile. The commercial gym equipment is ‘heavy duty’ and can of course take a lot more weight and usage compared to general gym equipment used in private homes. Let your demand decide the quality of your home gym.

Home gym equipment is a luxury that more and more people can afford. And when you have bought it, how do you know that your Bowflex for example is effective, and that it will last. Well, generally you will get a set of very training programs with it. You can also learn at a fitness center and practice at home.

Anyway a home gym is a great way for you to stay in shape, stay healthy and keep and build muscle tone. Gym equipment is becoming more sophisticated in the physiological information it provides about your workout and they are always improving. That can be a reason to rent the equipment. With some manufacturer and wholesale supplier of health and fitness equipment you have to rent it, it is not for sale.

The first step in setting up your home gym equipment is to find an area to use. When you have the equipment installed you can get your full body workout with a Bowflex or similar sport home gym. They also offer product reviews, exercise tips and buying tips to ensure that you will get the most out of your home gym equipment. You can often buy a used Bowflex safely for your home gym on eBay. As you might imagine, the home gym equipments are relatively heavy and can cost a lot to ship.

The prices for home gyms vary of course a lot but as an example it can now be only $14 per month. With the hefty Bowflex price tag, if you dont mind the bulk, a metal weight machine is definitely the best choice in home gym equipment.

You can perform a fitness routine on a Bowflex at home just as if you were at the local gym and using all of the gym equipment there. The fitness machines takes care of most exercise, strength training and overall fitness training. The machine may look odd and it may not use weight plates, but it is an incredibly versatile piece of gym equipment. Bowflex is probably one of the most well-known brands in fitness equipment.

To reach your goals with the training you need to be able to effectively use your machine ultimate or alternative home gym equipment properly and consistently.

Jogging – What To Do When You Physically Can’t Jog At Your Next Work Out

Posted By bunda | Posted on Jun 09, 2008

Do you find that jogging puts wear and tear on your body at times? Even though jogging is great for weight loss, sometimes the impact can leave you in enough pain that running won’t be an option at your next work out.

It gets very challenging to run on a daily basis because we may need longer to recover. Even if equipped with the right clothing for the weather or the right sneakers to jog with, the body just says “no”.

However, we should ask ourselves, “What can we do if we can’t run?” In my opinion running is the most effective exercise for burning fat. In turn, I’m less optimistic with my weight loss goals when I can’t run. However, we can always choose an alternative exercise……..

If you want a formidable workout with lower impact, give elliptical machines a try. Elliptical machines became popular because they provide much less impact on the legs when training and give you a good work out (if used correctly).

Elliptical machines can challenge the determined trainee to get an intense work out. If you decide to use an elliptical machine as an alternative to jogging, you won’t need to worry about the payoff (or lack of) for skipping your daily run.

If you don’t know what an elliptical trainer looks like, think of a stair climber crossed with a treadmill. It provides trainees a natural, flowing motion while sweating it out.

Interval training on the elliptical machine provides one approach for optimal fat burning. Some elliptical machines at the gym include pre-programmed courses you can choose from. Setting the overall resistance level should be the only effort you need to make for your workout. Correct use of the machine will provide your body enough of a challenge to burn fat optimally.

Many elliptical machines include high tech features such as a control panel that allows any dedicated trainee access to important information such as calories burned, time functions and a heart rate.

Elliptical fitness machines are used in gyms for many years. People are buying them for their personal home gyms as these machines become more affordable.

So if your knees, legs or feet hurt too much from jogging, consider taking the day off from jogging and get on an elliptical machine for your next work out.

You’ll reduce most of the impact on your legs and you’ll get the results you need.

How To Properly Begin A Jogging Routine

Posted By bunda | Posted on Jun 08, 2008

Jogging is not only one of the best ways to burn fat and lose weight; it also makes your heart and lungs stronger. You can jog almost anywhere and just about any time you want, making it very convenient to do. This is why there are so many people who do it.

The trouble that most people have in the beginning is not knowing how to get started properly and they usually end up doing it wrong. This has prompted scores of people to quit doing it before it has had enough time to do them any good.

Let’s take a look at some things that may make it a little easier to get started on a jogging routine without running yourself into the ground.

The first and probably the most common mistake people make when starting a jogging routine is that they start out too fast. They go out and pace themselves much to fast and end up huffing and puffing out of breath after 5 or 10 minutes. This is an instant recipe for failure and many people quit within a few days.

Some people who are a little more resilient may keep going for a while thinking that if they just stay with it long enough, it will start to get easier. Usually what happens is it gets harder because even though they might be getting in better condition, they continue to push harder along the way so it seems that there is no progress.

When you are about to set out on a jogging routine, the best thing you can do is buy a heart rate monitor before you ever jog your first step. With one of these, you can set up a pace that is comfortable for you and you can keep within that level throughout your jog. This means that you will not have to “guess” about the pace and you will not have to feel like your lungs are on fire when you are finished.

The key here is to always jog between 50% and 70% of your maximal heart rate. This is easy to do with a heart rate monitor because you can keep a close check on your heart rate as you go. You can speed your pace up if it goes a little low, and slow down if it goes a little high. You can even slow to a walking pace if your heart rate goes too high, and resume a jogging pace once it goes below 50%.

The way for you to know where your heart rate should be to be between 50% and 70% is by using this formula:

Subtract your age from 220. This will be your maximal heart rate. Now, simply multiply this by .50 and .70 and that will give you your targeted heart zone. Below is an example of this formula.

Say you are age 40

220 minus 40 equals 180

180 times .50 equals 90

180 times .70 equals 126

By looking at this example, you can see that if you are 40 years old, you would keep your heart rate between 90 and 126 while doing your jog.

The fact is, you do not need to go fast to get benefits from jogging, it is how long you are moving that counts. It is more beneficial to cover a mile in say, 15 minutes than to cover it in 7 minutes and then be exhausted.

If you stay within the limits of your heart rate capabilities, you will begin to add more time and miles to your jog as you go and jogging will become something you look forward to instead of something you dread doing.

Tandem Jogging Strollers Revealed

Posted By bunda | Posted on Jun 07, 2008

Parents of twins or two small toddlers don’t need to miss out on the convenience of jogging strollers. Many manufacturers make tandem jogging strollers that provide much of the same convenience as single jogging strollers. Pushing around two children also has the advantage of giving you a better
There are two basic flavours of tandem jogging strollers, the seats can be positioned side-by-side or one in front of the other. The biggest problem with the side-by-side design is their width, they may be difficult to manouver around the grocery store aisles.

On the other hand, if your children are seated one in front of the other the one in the back my like to kick and pull the hair of the one in front. This design is much narrower but some parents can’t put up with the squabbles that this seating invites. Knowing the temperament of your children will help you to pick the appropriate style.

The other big consideration when buying a tandem jogging stroller is whether the front wheel swivels or not. Fixed front wheel designs are perfect for serious joggers because they require very little effort to steer on long straightaways. When you have to make a sharp turn, however, the front wheel has to be popped in the air, and this can be a major inconvenience in those grocery store aisles.

Swivel front wheels are a good compromise because they can be locked in position for jogging and released when you need to steer around tight spots.

The size of the wheels is also something to consider. 12″ wheels are not suitable for rough terrain so if you plan on jogging on grass or gravel get a tandem jogging stroller with at least 16″ inflatable wheels.

Other features to look for include storages areas, brakes, and covers. Most jogging strollers have a tray under the seats for carrying extra gear, but you may also need pockets for cell phones, keys, and toys. There should be a hand brake for quick stops when jogging and a parking brake is also convenient.

Some jogging strollers come complete with rain covers while others have them available as accessories. Whether or not you need them depends on your climate and jogging habits.

Reebok Jogging Strollers – Reviewed

Posted By bunda | Posted on Jun 06, 2008

Everyone with the slightest interest in sports knows the name Reebok. They make everything from sports shoes to timing devices and have developed a loyal cliental from all around the world. They have recently come out with their own Reebok jogging stroller with most of the features parents have come to expect from good-quality 3-wheel strollers.

This stroller has a rear suspension system that provides a comfortable ride for your child while being easy to push over a variety of terrains. The 16” wheels are suitable for grass, sand, and gravel as well as paved surfaces. If you are serious about your jogging you should insist on a stroller with at least 16″ wheels, 12″ is only good for smooth surfaces.

If your child feels like sleeping while you are jogging the seat reclines all the way. It should be remembered, though, that babies under the age of 6 months should not be taken jogging, they don’t have the muscle control to properly support their heads and the back and forth movement when running could be harmful.

The Reebok jogging stroller, however, could be used as a regular stroller for the first 6 months after your baby is born and then when she is ready you can start taking her with you on your jogs.

This jogger has a fleece-lined boot that keeps your child warm and protected from cold drafts. Other handy features are the cell phone pocket, the adjustable canopy, and the one-hand folding mechanism.

When fully folded the Reebok jogging stroller takes up remarkably little space. The wheels are attached with a quick-release mechanism so taking the stroller completely down is a snap. It can be stored in a closet or the trunk of your car.

The Reebok stroller has been designed so that your child sits well back from the front wheel. This is safer than allowing the feet to come near the front wheel and distributes the weight more evenly for more stability.

We are quite impressed with this stroller. Care has to be taken when assembling that the front wheel is properly aligned otherwise it may pull to one side, but otherwise this is a good choice in a moderate priced jogging stroller.
